Cooper Caldwell Secures P1 AquaX Victory in Daytona Beach

Daytona Beach, FL – April 21, 2024 – The Monster Energy MACC Racing Jet Ski Team is thrilled to announce the triumph of rider Cooper Caldwell in the AM Enduro 200 Class at Round 1 of the AquaX P1 US National Championships held in Daytona Beach on April 20-21, 2024.

The event attracted a large audience, with crowds gathering on shore outside the iconic Hard Rock Hotel at Daytona Beach to witness the exhilarating races unfold. Cooper Caldwell’s outstanding performance in his debut P1 AquaX race showcased his talent and determination, competing in three races over the weekend.

In a series of intense battles, Caldwell demonstrated exceptional skill in his fierce competitions with fellow racer Kayden Baldwin. Despite Baldwin’s initial lead in Race 1 and Race 2, Caldwell’s tenacity and speed in the rough conditions allowed him to claim victory in both races, setting the stage for an unforgettable performance.  Despite finishing in second spot in Race 3, Caldwell’s consistent performance secured him the overall weekend victory, marking his maiden P1 AquaX win.

The Pro Enduro 300 Class at the AquaX P1 US National Championships in Daytona Beach witnessed a gathering of 27 of the world’s best PWC racers at the start line.

Tim Miller, in his debut race for Monster Energy MACC Racing, faced a challenging start as he encountered a broken throttle lever on his jet ski during Race 1. Despite the setback, Miller’s years of experience in racing proved invaluable as he finished the race remarkably in 16th place. His consistent performance in Race 2 and Race 3, securing finishes of 8th and 11th place respectively, culminated in a 15th place finish for the weekend.

Former P1 AquaX champion and Monster Energy MACC Racing Chris MacClugage experienced a frustrating weekend. Following a solid third place finish in Race 1, MacClugage demonstrated his competitive spirit by leading Race 2 until the halfway point. However, challenges with lapped traffic and a back marker crashing out ultimately resulted in a third-place finish.  MacClugage’s pursuit of a top 3 finish for the weekend was thwarted by an unavoidable incident and a significant crash during race 3, denying him a podium finish & ending in 6th place overall.

Reflecting on the weekend, MacClugage expressed determination and optimism, stating, “We still came away with some points. Not the result we were hoping for, but we can take a lot of positives from the weekend. We’ll reevaluate our performance, train harder, and come back stronger for the next race.”

With a long season ahead, the Monster Energy MACC Racing Jet Ski Team remains focused on success and eagerly anticipates the next round of competition in Michigan City on July 12-14.
